Kuala Lumpur, 28 May 2025 – Uzma Berhad (“Uzma,” or “Group”) announced its unaudited third quarter financial results for the period ending 31 March 2025 (“Q3 FY2025”) here today.
The Group reported a gross profit of RM70.5 million in Q3 FY2025 on the back of RM168.7 million in revenue, with revenue recording an increase of 58.1% or RM62.0 million over the same period in Q3 FY2024 Year-on-Year (“YoY”). The Group’s Profit Before Tax (“PBT”) in Q3 FY2025 stood at RM14.9 million compared to RM4.7 million in Q3 FY 2024 YoY.
The Group’s revenue for Q3 FY2025 has increased by RM33.1 million or 24.4%, to RM168.7 million, compared to RM135.6 million recorded in Q2 FY2025. This increase was primarily attributed to the increased activities from the Oil & Gas and New Energy segments in the current quarter as compared to the preceding quarter. Despite recording an increase in gross profit, the Group’s PBT for the quarter was RM14.9 million, a slight decrease of RM1.7 million or 10.5% compared to RM16.6 million in the preceding quarter.
The Group’s revenue for the nine-month financial period ending 31 March 2025 has increased by RM116.4 million or 29.4%, to RM512.2 million, compared to RM395.8 million recorded in the corresponding financial period last year. The Group also recorded PBT of RM42.4 million, a slight increase of RM1.3 million or 3.0% compared to RM41.1 million in the corresponding period in FY2024. This increase was primarily driven by higher activities in the Oil & Gas segment during the current financial period. In addition, the Group’s revenue growth also benefited from contributions by the New Energy segment through the energisation of LSS4 or Uzma Kuala Muda Solar Farm, and Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (“EPCC”) project.
Dato’ Kamarul Redzuan Muhamed, Group Chief Executive Officer, Uzma Berhad, said, “We are pleased to report that the growth in our third quarter results is driven by the increased activity across both our Oil & Gas and New Energy segments. This performance highlights the continued strength and resilience of our diverse business portfolio. The continued growth in revenue and profit underscores our commitment to delivering value for our shareholders and contributing to Malaysia’s energy sector. Our efforts in the renewable energy segment, including the expansion of our energy storage solutions, reflect our proactive approach to the nation’s energy transition. Additionally, our leadership in satellite technology, with the successful launch of UzmaSAT-1 and our involvement in the Pembangunan Satelit Penderiaan Jauh Negara (“PSPJN”) programme, positions us well to support Malaysia’s strategic objectives in space technology and Earth observation. We are confident in our ability to drive sustainable growth and further strengthen our leadership in these key sectors.”
Upstream O&G Services Segment
Despite recent fluctuations in global oil prices, Malaysia’s upstream sector continues to offer opportunities. Uzma remains a key player, actively supporting PETRONAS’s plans for increased production. The Group’s ongoing projects include drilling development wells, executing major offshore and onshore projects, and implementing numerous facilities improvement initiatives. Uzma’s involvement in brownfields like Gumusut-Kakap and Bekok provides valuable services that contribute to Malaysia’s energy supply.
In March 2025, Uzma secured a 3-year contract from PETRONAS Carigali for Non-Rig Assisted Electric Wireline Logging (“EWL”) services in East Malaysia, covering various well types. Additionally, Uzma was awarded a 2-year Work Order for marine seismic data acquisition services, covering up to 16,000 sq/km in Peninsular Malaysia. These contracts showcase Uzma’s ongoing commitment to supporting Malaysia’s upstream oil and gas sector and highlight our strong position in delivering innovative solutions to key industry players.
New Energy Segment
Uzma is optimistic about the growing opportunities in Malaysia’s renewable energy sector. As Malaysia aims for net-zero emissions by 2050, Uzma is well-positioned to support this transition with its renewable energy solutions.
Through the recent updates to the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (“PETRA”) self-consumption (“SELCO”) programme, Uzma is poised to tap into new investment opportunities. The inclusion of Battery Energy Storage Systems (“BESS”) in solar projects aligns with Uzma’s ongoing efforts to enhance energy efficiency. Additionally, with initiatives like the Community Renewable Energy Aggregation Mechanism (“CREAM”), Uzma sees new avenues to contribute to the nation’s energy goals and expand its reach in the renewable energy market.
Uzma is also actively participating in the Large Scale Solar (“LSS”) Peralihan Tenaga SuRia (“LSS PETRA”) programme, having submitted proposals for the latest open bidding exercise. The Group is confident in its ability to deliver impactful solar energy solutions that support Malaysia’s ambitious energy transition.
Digitalisation & Technology Segment
Uzma continues to lead the way in digitalisation and space technology. With the successful launch of UzmaSAT-1 earlier this year, the Group is now delivering high-resolution satellite imagery that supports sectors like agriculture, security, infrastructure, and environmental monitoring. UzmaSAT-1 is already providing valuable insights to both government and commercial users, further solidifying Uzma’s position as a leader in space technology.
The Group’s Digital Earth (“UzmaDE”) platform is also growing, with new features designed to enhance data analytics and visualisation. This platform is already supporting vital initiatives like plantation compliance monitoring and slope integrity risk detection, reinforcing Uzma’s role in driving innovation in Earth observation.
In a significant step forward, Uzma is the successful bidder for the PSPJN by the Government of Malaysia. This national initiative marks a key milestone in developing Malaysia’s sovereign satellite capabilities, and Uzma is proud to lead the country’s next-generation Earth observation satellite project.
Looking ahead, Uzma is focused on expanding its regional partnerships and advancing its satellite and AI-driven solutions to unlock new opportunities across Southeast Asia.
